Hello Everyone Good Evening, Doraville is the only city in the Northern part of metro Atlanta that is not seeing development around its MARTA station – I will work on changing that. This is within the city’s ability to change, because it owns so much under-utilized public land. The potential for transformation is huge! This is my top priority. The way we can help to grow Doraville is by increasing our population and also the number of businesses in the area while maintaining our intimate community feel. One has to love the Diversity of Doraville. We need more activities that encourage every resident to get involved and feel welcome to participate. Our progressive seniors have so much wisdom and experience that we can tap into. I will use the wisdom and knowledge of our seniors to make Doraville a better place to live. I also think that the city has not done a good job of communicating and engaging our residents per socioeconomic development. I will have frequent town hall meetings to solicit feedback on issues outside of council meetings; and we should create more boards and commissions to provide input on public art, city budgeting, our parks, and other important municipal functions. I came to the United Stated because I believe in America, the promise of the American Dream. I believe in the words epitomized in the Pledge of Allegiance “Liberty and Justice for All “. America has always represented freedom. That is the way that immigrants have come to America from the beginning, to become citizens, and embrace America, to become “Simply Americans!” It took me 10 years and much hard work to become a citizen and America welcomed me and my family. I know I must give back, give back to the country that took me in, give back to my friends and neighbors in the city of Doraville. I believe it is my turn to give back to my community.my name is smabuzahed and I am running for Doraville City Council District 1 in this upcoming November Election. This are Issues I am going to work for: Let US lower our taxes, create more sidewalks, reduce traffic, Make Doraville a “Great Place to Live.” Economic Growth, Embracing Diversity, Empowering Seniors, Education, Health, Safety, Supporting Our Library, Public Art, Our Parks and any other issues that we need to deal with.
